you just need thread that blends

i'm learning to sew. or rather, learning to use a sewing machine. my first attempt was a purse, which (almost) immediately started to lose its shape and with it, its quirkiness. the outside fabric was transparent, the seams started pulling apart, and the marketable and conveniently located pen-holder sewn into the inside started to sag. i no longer use the purse.

but i haven't given up! i've since bought some sturdier fabric and am attempting it once again. this time it's for my sister's birthday and i've even invested in some aesthetically pleasing owl iron-ons to up its value once the crooked seams are in place. what a dud present. sorry, candy.

to leave you with a more smiling image, my friend recently sewed this little guy together, igniting my sewing-jealousy:

Hey kelly :)

Lvoe the blog, looking forward to more posts. I hope your sewing ventures go well :) I love to sew, but i suck at using a machine, so i do it by hand. Time consuming, yes, but i feel a lot of pride when I finish something...lol
